Record number of fabricators switch to Optima windows

Four reasons why September is a great time to sell your home

If you’ve had your house up for sale recently or you are considering putting it on the market, this month is an ideal time to attract buyers. It’s also a great time to consider kerb appeal and spruce up the appearance of your home.

Google search trends have revealed that traffic on property websites Rightmove and Zoopla can decline by as much as 30 per cent starting from November. This means that listing your house at the start of September will give you a two-month window in which to sell.

So why is September such a great time to put up the ‘for sale’ sign?

  1. People are determined to be moved in time for the festive season, which means buyers are more pro-active.
  2. Many school admission deadlines are due in February, so buying a house in the area you are after improves your chances of getting children into the school you want… better get a move on!
  3. September should (in theory) provide nice enough weather to get good pictures of a house before it goes on the market.
  4. Buyers who have typically been on holiday or busy with children during the summer months are now back in the market and giving searches their full attention.

According to the Right Move House Price Index for September 2016, there was an uplift in Rightmove website visits of 8 per cent in the first full week of September, after the end of the holiday season.

September is also a good time to look at your home and consider replacing outdated or just plain boring windows and doors. You would be surprised at the difference this can make.
