Open up your outdoors! Why you should consider a veranda for your outdoor space…

A unique approach to your outdoor space is surfacing and it’s not something we’re used to.

Verandas are a thing, it’s a fact. We’re more used to seeing them on our TV sets though because it’s not something we automatically associate with Britain – they are much more likely to pop up alongside the ranch style properties of outback Australia for example.

But not anymore! A new trend for these stylish and comfortable outdoor areas is promising to add a little international flair to our alfresco living. Interested?

If you’re still a bit unsure about what a veranda is, it’s a slightly raised area that connects to the side of your home and usually has a roof with open sides. They are basically an extension to your home and have some fantastic benefits. Here’s why you should consider one:

Everyone can have one

The good thing about verandas is they come in pretty much any shape you need and they fit to the side of your house, so if you own a home, there’s a very good possibility you can own a veranda too.

Extra living space

Who doesn’t need a little extra space? With a veranda, you have the opportunity of creating an extra living space, an alfresco dining room, or even a play room for the kids.

Sun shade

Playing outdoors in the sunshine gets a big tick from us over the summer but when those hot days get too much, a veranda offers the perfect respite for shaded sand or water play, or just a cosy spot of reading.

Be outside even when it’s raining

If you love the outdoors as much as us, you won’t let a little thing called rain get in the way of you enjoying the fresh air. But don’t get wet; spend that outdoors time under the protective layer of a veranda.

When you have summer entertaining to do, there’s nothing better than retiring after dinner to a comfortable and stylish outdoor space to enjoy the light nights of summer. Furnish your veranda with outdoor sofas and chairs, and brighten up the space with colourful cushions and accessories.

Style points

When it comes to your house looking good, verandas are certainly going to win you style points. Attractive in design and personalised to your taste, they become an extension of your home’s interior design. Whether you choose patio flooring or decking, structural pillars make pretty features, and the cover gives you a weather-proof area.

Value-added comfort

Aside from giving you an extra area of comfort, adding this kind of design to your home will undoubtedly add value to your property if you intend to sell up in the future.

Affordable luxury

While some outdoor buildings can be costly, verandas are a relatively affordable luxury and can be adapted to almost any type of home.

So, are you ready to find out more?

Staffordshire-based Target Windows has partnered up with the UK’s leading manufacturer of PVC-U window systems to bring the next generation of PVC-U windows to its customers this summer.

The Optima range, designed and produced by Profile 22, has revolutionised the PVC-U windows market since its launch in 2016, with its exceptional performance in energy efficiency, weather protection and security.

Target Windows will stock the full Optima range in its Uttoxeter and Stone showrooms from 1st August. Thanks to the adaptable design, both contemporary and period-styled houses can benefit from the modern technology that the award-winning Optima range offers, including the fabulous new Flush Fit window casement.

Sleek design features combined with impressive technical innovations, such as increased thermal chambers, deep drainage channels, a central eurogroove position, thickened walls around screw locations and a secure bead system, make Optima one of Target Windows’ best-ever ranges. A wealth of glazing options, a wide range of ancillaries, and an impressive colour selection add to the appeal.

Target Windows’ Director, Guy Basnett comments:

“It’s our job to bring the best and most advanced innovation in windows and doors to our customers to excel in levels of comfort, style, and security. Optima is an award-winning range with industry leading technology that improves the protection, strength, and durability of doors for a wide range of project types.”

Gerald Allen, Profile 22’s Marketing Manager, said:

“Optima is a system designed for the 21st century and beyond, which makes it very appealing in the first place. But the expertise and knowledge of our specification team takes that benefit to the next level. It’s something that gives Profile 22 fabricators a real competitive edge when tendering for commercial contracts.”

Optima will launch at Target Windows on 1st August.

Target Windows has successfully bid for two commercial contracts to supply and fit the windows and doors in the latest developments by Adlington Homes. The new addition to Target’s portfolio is part of the respected Gladman Group, and specialises in the construction of market-leading retirement apartments that support independent living for the over 55s in Cheshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, North Wales and the North West.

The first site, Adlington House, is in Urmston, Greater Manchester. Target Windows will install energy-efficient windows and doors in 55 private luxury apartments, with completion scheduled for November 2017.

The second development, at Brooklands House, Stafford, is due to be completed in Spring 2018 and will feature the very best that Adlington Homes has to offer – a testament to Target Windows’ ability to support such an impressive development.

Target Windows Director, Guy Basnett, commented:

“This is the first time that Target Windows has worked with a Gladman Group company, and we are delighted that they have chosen us to deliver two such prestigious projects. The doors and windows that our team will be installing at both sites will ensure energy efficiency and security for residents.”

The Adlington Homes’ win follows a string of commercial success stories for the Stoke-on-Trent based company, who recently completed the installation of energy-efficient windows and doors in seven new homes and a large block of apartments in Mancetter, Warwickshire, and supported the re-development of a series of Stoke-on-Trent tower blocks in conjunction with Kier Stoke and Kier Construction.

Target Windows has won a commercial tender to supply and fit the windows and doors in the latest scheme to be delivered by North Warwickshire Borough Council.

Working for Harper Construction, Target Windows will be installing energy-efficient windows and doors in seven new homes and a large block of apartments in Mancetter, Warwickshire. Successful completion will lead to installations at further sites as the council continues to build homes throughout 2017 and into 2018.

Target Windows is thrilled to have won this contract, and the Stoke-on-Trent based company is hopeful that the relationship with Harper Construction will lead to bigger and better projects for both parties.

Target Windows’ Director, Guy Basnett, commented:

“We have seen consistent growth in our commercial contracts over recent months, and it’s thanks to projects like this that we are actively recruiting several new members of staff at our Head Office, so it’s not just a win for Target Windows, but our staff and potential employees too.”

Target Windows has secured tenders worth over £350,000 this year alone, and the company is currently recruiting Installers, Order Processors, and Estimators in direct response to this continued success. Anyone interested in applying is invited to send their CV to guy@www.targetwindows.co.uk
